My life as an artist...

All I've ever known for certain, is that I love to work with my hands.  I've always been fascinated by processes, and how one thing or a material can become something more.  I found oil paint through older brothers who vigorously explored everything, and discovered the love of handiwork through helping my father, who studied very hard, and fixed things.  I left childhood and studied painting at Boston University, graduating in 1976 with a degree in Fine Arts.  I soon found myself growing as an illustrator where every painting was a challenge and design solution.  For almost thirty years I'd work for advertisers, publishers, many corporate clients, and even the cinema.

Today, I've long left illustration to again find my roots as a painter.  Having traded agent for gallery, I'm enjoying a creative life, filled with many new and different challenges.  I create almost thirty paintings a year, and no subject is beyond reach.   Years ago, I added a studio onto this hundred year old house where I continue to work today.   For me, art is not just about painting, but it is a way of life.  Whether my project at hand is the garden, this old house, woodwork, or even stained glass, my art is about bringing ideas into reality, uplifting and beautiful.
